CALM +

To help reduce stress and anxiety

Complementary feed to help reduce signs associated with stress and anxiety in dogs and cats. Promotes a calm and relaxed state of CALM in dogs and cats experiencing fear, anxiety or changes in their environment. Promotes the balance of the gut-brain axis for optimal cognitive and psychological function.

Stress often generates a certain degree of anxiety, an anticipation of potentially dangerous, imagined or unknown stimuli, that can generate unwanted reactions such as hyperactivity, rigid posture, urination, destruction of objects, or excessive barking and whining.

Likewise, these signs can be observed in cases of fear, when dogs and cats have a response to stimuli identified as threatening; or phobias, persistent and maladaptive fears that are out of proportion to the triggering stimulus.

If not managed correctly, these problems cause imbalances and problems, coupled with a reduction in the quality of the bond with humans and increase the likelihood of abandonment. It is key, therefore, to immediately identify and correct the situation causing stress to minimize suffering and recover the quality of life of dogs, cats and cohabitants.

Instructions for proper use

CATS AND DOGS < 10KG

1/2 tablet per day

DOGS
10 - 25 KG

1 tablet per day

DOGS
25 - 40 KG

2 tablets per day

DOGS
> 40 kg

3 tablets per day

This amount can be increased according to the animal’s needs. It is recommended to administer it together with food. It can be used punctually or long term. In case of:

  • Punctual stress situations: Administer daily at least 4 days before the stressor and maintain as long as it persists. In cases of a high level of stress, it is recommended to double the dose the day before and while the stressor is present.

  • Chronic stress situations: Administer daily as long as symptoms persist.

  • Support to work on behavior modification with a professional: Administer daily while behavior modification is being worked on. During the first weeks you can even double the daily dose. Then, it is recommended to make a gradual decrease to avoid relapses.

Whenever the animal suffers from a behavioral
disorder, it is recommended to consult the opinion
of a veterinarian or ethologist, to rule out any
cause of organic origin, treat the origin of the
problem and be able to adopt appropriate
management and environmental enrichment
measures.

1

In situations of high level of stress, it is
recommended to replace the usual food with a
diet rich in carbohydrates and low in protein,
at least temporarily.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Anxiolytic: L-theanine promotes relaxation without causing drowsidness. It increases levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), an inhibitory neurotransmitter that induces relaxation and reduces anxiety.
  • Improves mood: The compounds present in green tea can positively influence mood. On the other hand, they increase the activity of alpha waves in the brain, and on the other, they increase the levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which is associated with a state of relaxation, helping to improve the mood state and the sense of well-being.
  • Reduces cortisol levels: Helps reduce levels of cortisol, a stress hormone. By lowering cortisol levels, green tea helps relieve physical and psychological symptoms associated with stress.
  • Improves cognitive function: Better brain function allows for a greater ability to deal with stressful situations e]ectively.
  • Reduces oxidative stress: The antioxidants present in green tea, especially catechins such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), protect brain cells from oxidative damage, contributing to better brain function and the reduction of oxidative stress, which it is often associated with stress and anxiety.

Essential amino acid.

  • Produces serotonin: It is the amino acid precursor of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep and anxiety.
  • Improves mood: By increasing serotonin levels, L-tryptophan has a positive effect on mood. Low levels of tryptophan have been shown to increase aggression, anger and depression, while high levels have a therapeutic effect in pathologically aggressive animals and promote a feeling of well-being and elevated mood.
  • Reduces cortisol levels: Helps reduce levels of cortisol, a stress hormone. By lowering cortisol levels, L-tryptophan helps relieve physical and psychological symptoms associated with stress.
  • Helps with falling asleep: It is also the precursor amino acid of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Improving sleep quality has a positive effect on reducing stress and anxiety.
  • Anxiolytic: Contains active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids and glycosides, which act on several neurotransmitters in the brain, including GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and reduces neuronal excitability.
  • Helps with falling asleep: Some studies suggest that passionflower may interact with benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, which are involved in regulating anxiety and sleep. Improving sleep quality has a positive effect on reducing stress and anxiety.
  • Produces neurotransmitters: Mainly vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) and vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) play a very important role. They are essential for the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), which regulate mood and anxiety.
  • Natural adaptogen: Substance that helps the body adapt to stress (both physical and mental) through the regulation of the HPA (hypothalamicpituirtary-adrenal) axis, reducing the production of cortisol and consequently, promoting a general feeling of well-being.
  • Anxiolytic: Contains triterpenes, compounds with anxiolytic effects since they increase the levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a
neurotransmitter that promotes calm and relaxation, and reduces anxiety.
  • Helps with falling asleep: Contains compounds with sedative effects, promoting sleep quality.
  • Stimulates the synthesis of nerve growth factor (NGF): Contains compounds such as hericenones and erinacins that stimulate the production of NGF, which is crucial for the growth, maintenance and survival of neurons, reducing neuronal degeneration and promoting neurogenesis, which contributes to better management of stress and anxiety.
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory: Exerts a neuroprotective effect, protecting the brain from oxidative damage and inflammation, factors that can exacerbate stress and anxiety. Additionally, it improves mental resilience.
  • Produces neurotransmitters: Modulates the levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are crucial for regulating mood and anxiety.
